There are some that do not get to see the fruit of their struggle while alive...MLK only saw it afar off, the Dream only came close 2008 when Obama was elected...Mandela got to see a South Africa that was free from Apartheid....this does not in any way diminish the other...Chief Gani is honored in death, all over Nigeria, the 'Mai Surutu' is mourned..the biggest honor we can give him is to be a voice for the voiceless..a Vacuum has been created...RIP Chief..

Gani never disappointed! He fought the military juntas with all that he had and dedicated his entire life to the defense of human rights and condemnation of evil government policies. The greatest honor ever bestowed on any Nigerian, in my opinion, deservedly went to him, "The Senior Advocate of the Masses(SAM). The mention of his Gani's name always brought a deep sense of pride and joy to me, personally, because with him, what you saw was what you got. A Nigerian without guile, neither was he given to equivocation. A true patriot has fallen and I join all in saluting a distinguished visionary, a fearless freedom fighter, a disciplined inspirer that led unobtrusively, a dependable social critic... in short, Nigeria's gadfly!
Generations of Nigerians shall call him blessed because of his courageous fight against the principalities and powers of darkness in high places that have held our nation bound for so long.
Beloved Gani, you shall be sorely missed. You live on in the hearts and minds of all Nigerians of goodwill. You fought the good fight! My respects for all time. Adiós!

Gani Fawehinmi devoted his life, knowledge and skills to the very hard and hazardous work of emancipating the Nigerian from tyranny. For this he was detained, abused and villified by many Nigerian vagabonds in power. His legacy abound in law by many of his publications and many young people who were inspired by his honesty and hardwork. No lawyer in Nigeria, ever devoted so much of his time to fight for justice for the common man. People like Gani can never die. He will continue to live in our hearts. The generation yet unborn shall read and be inspired about his philosophy and selfless service to humanity. Gani fawehinmi lives for ever!
